samples from the Minkha Women's Knitting Cooperative of Bolivia.
This is an outstanding collection of quality Handknit Pure Alpaca or
Peruvian Pima Cotton items; scarves, hats, vests, cardigans, sweaters,
pullovers, long-vests & coats, shawls, ponchos & ruanas. Prices starting
from $25.00 to $250.00. A wide range of traditional & contemporary designs
available for men & women!
ALL of the funds are returned to the talented Bolivian artisans who create
the sweaters. We have the joy of bringing the garments to you, you have the
pleasure of a beautifully handcrafted high quality garment, and the women of
Bolivia are recognized/paid for their incredible talent. Everyone is gifted!
Note: This is an opportunity to buy or custom order sweaters for Christmas
giving. Custom orders take approximately 90 days to be returned from
Bolivia. Gift certificates available. A meaning way for a greener/just
Christmas Giving!
About: In 1989, while in Bolivia, staff/volunteers of Save the Children
Canada brought together a group of expert knitters & founded the micro
enterprise Minkha. Through their extraordinary skills/hard work, the Women
of Minkha have made their cooperatively owned-run enterprise self-sufficient
and sustainable, and continue to provide for themselves and their children.
