I was working on these Scooby pajama pants for a birthday party this weekend and was near finished when this caught my eye on the selvage:

FAIL. Not only a pajama fail, but a learn fail as I did this one before, bought a bunch of flannel for PJs only to realize it could not be used as sleepwear once I brought the flannel home. They could be used as regular pants but they'd be a bit um, loud.
Now I need to think of something I can use cut-up scooby pajama pants fabric for.

Oooooh denied! And darn it, they are cute!
FWIW, the flannel marked 'not for children's pjs" only says that because they aren't soaked with fire-retardant chemicals. So the govt' requires that use warning. PJs marketed towards kids all have fire-retardants on them...that started in the 70s when too many kids got too close to their parents' lit ciggys (nice!).
Personally, I prefer that my kids not spend 8+ hrs a day wearing fire-retardants, so I purposely use the 'non-safe' materials for their PJs.
Thanks, Shizzknits. I did know that the label meant the fabric wasn't flame retardant, but didn't realize the cigarette connection.. eek.
I can understand not wanting to sleep in clothing doused in chemicals, but since they are a gift I don't want to make that choice for other people's kids, that's up to their parents. I will repurpose the pants somehow, maybe into drawstring bags as they seem to be popular for carrying little toys around the house.
Oh that bites!
I'm so sad i didn't get to see you when i was home!
It was a gong show of running all over Canada.
:(
Anyway, i guess i will catch you next round!
